Now, just as there are trillions moving through the banking sector, there’s trillions more in the insurance industry. And just as traditional banks have for decades invested customer deposits into fossil fuels, insurance companies have done the same thing with customer premiums. Like with banking, for most of us having insurance is unavoidable, so we knew that a sustainable approach could help harness all that money for good, helping accelerate the move toward a cleaner, greener future. 

But here’s the thing—as much as we’d love to say that 100% of the premiums we collect will go toward green initiatives, we can’t...at least not yet. But we’re working hard toward that goal, and that’s why we need your support more than ever. Bottom line: there currently is no insurance carrier that will use 100% of invested premiums for green initiatives, but Ando is committed to partnering only with insurance carriers that are directing a portion of premiums into socially and environmentally-responsible investments. The fastest way to get that “portion” to be 100% is for you to help us prove to them that there are enough customers who deeply care where their premiums go...customers who will gladly give their business to a carrier that shares their values. 

The sooner we have a "critical mass” of sustainable insurance customers, the sooner we can compel carriers to adopt Ando’s 100% green investment model. Please, use your voice and “vote” with your money – we know we can get this done, and the more of you who speak up, the faster we’ll get there. This is a journey, and by joining us you’re helping take the first step. The more of you who join, the quicker we’ll be able to convince insurers that customers want their invested premiums to only fund companies that benefit the planet, the environment, and our collective future.   

As we begin to offer insurance, we’re pledging to plant trees with every policy, helping to offset the non-green portion of your premiums. (Did you know that a mature hardwood tree can save 48 pounds of CO2 from entering the atmosphere every year? Over the lifespan of a tree, that’s a significant reduction.)
